Vegan Hot Chocolate

Vegan hot chocolate is so easy to make. I have been on the search for a dairy free, vegan hot cocoa. The store brands leave a lot to be desired, so I decided to try my hand at creating my own. It turned out well, it's smooth, creamy, just the right amount of sweet. Most of all it meets the need for a comforting hot cocoa during the holidays.

Vegan Hot Chocolate Recipe

  • Sprouted rice milk ~ 1 1/2 cups
  • Carob powder ~ Heaping tablespoon
  • Maple Syrup ~ to taste
  • Vanilla Bean Powder ~ grind a bit with mortar and pestle (the extract isn't gluten free btw)
  • Coconut Milk Cream ~ the rich part of full fat coconut milk, a heaping tablespoon
  • Chili powder ~ just a little

Mix first three ingredients in a saucepan and put on medium/high heat. Stay with it since it goes quickly.  The carob will look clumpy, whisk it and when it's just before the boil it dissolves nicely, add coconut cream and chili powder to finish off. Yummy and warming!

You could use Almond milk if you like, honey instead of maple syrup, just make sure it's real honey, not liquid but solid. Another post for later... Mix it up and put in a festive mug, this moment is yours.

With Love,
